Noemi Garza
![]() Mrs. Noemi Garza is serving in her 16th year as School board Trustee and is the current President. She has also served in the offices of Vice-President and Secretary. Mrs. Garza graduated from Harlingen High School and moved to Houston, Texas where she attended North Harris County College, majoring in Business Administration. She then went on to pursue her paralegal certification and was employed with the prestigious law firm of Vinson & Elkins. Mrs. Garza returned to the Rio Grande Valley in 1987 and is currently employed with the Department of Justice in the United States Attorney’s Office.
Mrs. Garza and her husband, Jose Luis, a Rio Hondo native and graduate, have been married for 35 years. They have two children who are Rio Hondo graduates, Joey (wife Criselda) Garza, and Jennifer (husband Ramiro) Vega. They are the proud grandparents of Josiah Justus, Jeslyn Jayna and Jaythan Connor, who attend Rio Hondo Elementary and also of future Bobcat, Amariah Noemi-Olivia Garza. Mrs. Garza’s commitment to serving on the School Board stems from her love for children and the belief that each one is a precious gift, entrusted to the educational system to prepare them for successful, productive lives. She believes that “Men can do jointly what they cannot do singly; and the union of minds and hands, the concentration of their power, becomes almost omnipotent.”
