Mrs. Garza welcomed everyone and thanked the audience for their interest in our District. She invited comments from the audience; there were none. =

      Item 5       Student/Staff Recognition   =

Athletic Director Gus Cavazos showed an 8-minute video with highlig= hts of the football season games. Mr. Cavazos recognized the Varsity Football Team Members and Coaches and presen= ted the trophy earned by the 32-AAA District Champs.

      Item 6       Report From Elementary School Principal.

            =             E= lementary School Principal Ida Stevens shared a power point presentation on activitie= s at

            =             <= span class=3DGramE>the Elementary Campus.



      Item 7       Presentation By High School Counselor Rene Cortez on Dual Cre= dit Courses and Update on the Recruitment by Michigan State.

      = ;            &n= bsp;     High School Counselor Rene Cortez presented an update on dual credit classes off= ered at Rio Hondo High School. English IV AP (English 1301 & English 1302), Pre-Calculus, Calculus I, and Texas State Technical College (TSTC) Collaborative courses are the dual credit classes available, he said. Mr. Cortez also reporte= d that they will be offering college algebra after school for dual credit for 16 h= igh school students. Also present= was Pat Hobbs, Executive Director for Tech Prep, who spoke on the thousands of dollars that our students are saving through dual credit enrollment. Angel Mendez, Collaborative Projec= ts Director at TSTC, discussed the importance of dual credit and the future pl= ans of having even more classes available for our students. High School Teacher Dr. Hossein Pe= zeshki also discussed his future plans to offer dual credit math classes for the <= span class=3DGramE>Fall 2006 and Spring 2007 semesters. In addition, Mr. Cortez discussed = the Michigan State trip planned for April 5-7, = 2006, for about five to six students who have applied.

      Item 8       A motion was made by Mr. Hernandez to approve consent ag= enda items 9, 10, 11 and 12.       Item 10     *Statemen= ts of Monthly Financial Report, Cafeteria Report, and Tax Collection Report,

      Item 11     *Funds Fr= om Youth Service America (YSA) for Being Selected as a State Farm Good

      = ;            &n= bsp;     Neighbor Service-Learning Award Wi= nner, accepted.

      Item 12     *Report on Investments .

  &n= bsp;   Item 13     A motion = was made by Mr. Hernandez to approve changing the date of January 9, 2006, Regu= lar Board Meeting to January 16, 2006. Seconded by Mr. Rolando Alfaro, the motion carried unanimously.

  &n= bsp;   Item 14     A motion = was made by Mr. Rolando Alfaro to adopt the Resolution to establish The National Incident Management System (NIMS) as the Department Standard for Incident Management. Seconded by Mr. S= erra, the motion carried unanimously.

      Item 15     A motion = was made by Mr. Rene Alfaro to approve the Revised Handbook for the Transportat= ion Department. Seconded by Mr. S= erra, the motion carried unanimously.

      Item 16     A motion = was made by Mr. Rolando Alfaro to Adopt Texas Association of School Boards (TAS= B) FNAA (LOCAL) (Student Expression: Distribution of NonSchool Literature), <= /b>FNAB(LOCAL) (Student Expression: Use of School Facilities for NonSchool Purpos= es), GKD(LOCAL) (Community Relations: NonSchool Use of School Facilities), and GKDA(LOCAL) (NonSchool Use of School Facilities: Distribution of NonSchool Literature) Policies. Seconde= d by Mr. Hernandez, the motion carried unanimously.=



      Item 17     Presenta= tion by Director of Elementary Curriculum on the School Health Advisory

        =             &nb= sp;   Council (SHAC). <= /o:p>

              =           Director for Elementary Curriculum Rita Lopez explained that the Tex= as Education Code

              =           §28.004 requires that all school districts have a School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) by

              =            the year 2007 to advise their local school board about health issues. Mrs. Lopez stated tha= t

        =             &nb= sp;   Rio Hondo ISD has a SHAC committee established already and informed = the Board of its

        =             &nb= sp;    membership and the departments the members serve.

Item 18     A motion was made by Mr. Rolando Alfaro to Adopt Resolution Authorizing the Issuance of Rio Hondo Independent School District Time Warrants, Series 200= 5, for the Acquisition of Personal Property (Two School Buses); Providing for = the Payment of Such Time Warrants, Specifying the Terms and Features of Said Ti= me Warrants, and Resolving Other Matters Incident and Related to the Issuance, Sale, Payment, and Delivery of Said Time Warrants. Seconded by Mr. Serra, the motion carried unanimously.



      Item 19     Mrs. Garza closed the regular session at 8:23 p.m. to discuss personnel matters.               &= nbsp;               =     The regular session resumed at 8:37 p.m. Personnel item was as follows:
